The LHC is located at the border between Switzerland and France. The LHC is used to accelerate protons up to near the speed of light and collides protons together. The [[CMS]] detector is situated around 100 m below the surface. We use this detector to detect particles from the collisions. From the proton-proton collisions at high energy, new particles can be created and decayed into stable particles immediately.
