Elementary Particle Physics Group

We are involved in the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) CERN. The LHC is located at the border between Switzerland and France. The LHC is used to accelerate protons up to near the speed of light and collides protons together. The CMS detector is situated around 100 m below the surface. We use this detector to detect particles from the collisions. From the proton-proton collisions at high energy, new particles can be created and decayed into stable particles immediately. We need to be detectives to figure out the culprits, new particles!
